What is Broadloom Carpet?

Broadloom Carpets originally took their names from the broad looms they were first woven on. Nowadays, the manufacturing processes have become more efficient, but broadloom carpets are still sold in large rolls and laid on a woven fabric backing material over the flooring substrate.

Even with the creation of carpet tiles, Broadloom carpet remains a popular choice for wall-to wall-flooring. The standard measurements for Broadloom rolls are around 12 feet wide but can also go up to 15 feet or 13 feet 6 inches wide. Rolls are also available in 6 feet wide rolls, but this is typically reserved strictly for a commercial setting.
